Services We Offer
It is the day and age of technology and using it to improve our lives. At ATAP we start with the ATAP Hall Monitor for schools. This is a program that helps schools watch the social, emotional and learning wellness of their students, to provide assistance when needed and prevent crisis. By providing instant communication for all connected staff in an easy to use format, the ATAP Hall Monitor saves time and work, while helping students!
This is not about the police intervention tactics of dealing with an active shooter. This is about the latest research on dealing with violent encounters of all levels and the best outcomes for everyone.
There are many realistic training programs out there which the officers among us admire, yet the educators among us feel differently about. That’s why we changed the way training is done – not because there is no danger – because for training to be effective, it has to be accepted.
Our training programs start where you’re at and take you as far as you want to go, including train-the-trainer level VIGILANT programs so your school or district can keep training going at minimal cost, while still accessing our expertise.
And this isn’t about us, it’s about you. To make our training programs effective for you, we incorporate YOUR EOPs into the training, making these YOUR training programs. Your board and community will love that you’ve created school specific safety training!
Knowing where we are is always key to getting where we want to go. Evaluating not only the building we use, but the tools, methods and training used to protect those inside are essential components of a solid safety plan. While the building may not change over decades, technology – and the techniques used by those intending harm – can change frequently, and policies and training should be renewed at least every year. Let us help make sure yours are current.
Guidance on EOPs
Emergency Operations Procedures
Our Lead Researcher and Behavioral Analyst has helped us focus our training on improved response, increasing the likelihood of positive outcomes in actual emergencies. So all our consultation focuses on decreasing the response efforts needed for success.
While some people thrive on Policies and love their Procedures, there are two things to remember with EOPs (Emergency Operations Procedures):
- They are a necessity to have – and Training helps make them effective – to inform your people, not because of the law.
- The more complex they are the more Training it will take to make them effective.
What you Gain
We save you the time of personally developing the expertise, while giving you the information you need to make well-informed decisions with the understanding you need to convey them. And we’re willing to help find resources for change in the community.
How we help Change
Simply, providing great security is a matter of expertise; that’s expertise educators don’t really have the time to develop to provide immediate safety to their schools and to focus on the education of the students and development of the staff. So, bringing in experts is the best solution. Yet, who do you choose? Many security experts haven’t stayed current and base their acclaim off of years past. Most are former military or law enforcement, with a singular solution; many others have great theories with no proven application. And most haven’t worked in schools, much less know the education system.
We combine the best aspects of those who have dealt with violence first-hand and those who have been educators and administrators with ongoing research about what is happening, how to keep it from happening and save lives, and how to share that information, creating a culture of safety.
How we work with You
ATAP will help you understand what you have that works and what improvements are needed. We begin with a quick online survey that you can take when you choose and complete in a few minutes. We’ll set up a free virtual consultation to go over the survey results with you and clarify understanding of where you are and where you want to be. We’ll work together to assess what you want to improve, look at options for it, and create a plan to make it happen, including funding.
